Undertaking detailed energy demand modelling of the proposed building using thermal simulation software, provides a higher accuracy of the predicted energy consumption to be obtained. Simulation modelling can be used to predict future annual energy costs for a building and can assess whether higher capital expensive options will deliver greater operational savings for the building owner.
NABERS Energy/ Commitment Agreement Modelling
NABERS Energy Commitment Agreements allow developers and building owners to promote and market excellent environmental performance of new and refurbished commercial office buildings from the outset. A NABERS building energy model is based on the NABERS Energy guide to building estimation which states typical occupancy loads and operating profiles. A base building NABER Energy model includes all energy consumed by the building’s central services. The proposed design is used and the annual carbon emissions emitted are calculated. Off-axis tests are performed to test the sensitivity of the model. Should a NABERS Energy Commitment Agreement be signed with the Office of Environment and Heritage for a 4.5 Star design or above, an energy simulation model is mandatory. ECONIC uses IES VE software, which is BESTEST accredited.

Green Star: Modelling & Calculations
Green Star is a national voluntary environmental rating system which evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings and communities. Green Star awards ratings on a scale between 4 to 6 stars, with a 6 star rating demonstrating the proposed design or completed building as a world leader in sustainability. As part of the Green Star rating system, modelling of the proposed design, and completed building is prerequisite to demonstrate and achieve certain point’s criteria. ECONIC can provide modelling services for the following associated categories which comply with the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star rules and requirements;
